BuiltSmart's use of browser session storage and optional local storage is for operation of the tool and is not used to track users across websites or create advertising profiles.

Like virtually all websites, delivery of the Site requires communications between your browser and hosting and network infrastructure.

That infrastructure may process technical information necessary to deliver, operate, troubleshoot and secure the Site. This may include an IP address, requested URL, date and time of a request, browser or user-agent information, device or network information, and technical error or security information.

Some technical information, including an IP address where it can be associated with an identifiable individual, may constitute personal information.

Technical information is not used by Mike Hassaballa to create behavioural advertising profiles or to track visitors across unrelated websites.

Hosting, security and infrastructure providers may process technical information on behalf of the Site in providing their services.

The Contact page may provide links or information that allow you to communicate through email, telephone, scheduling platforms, social networks or other third-party services.

If you contact Mike Hassaballa directly, the information you choose to provide may be received and retained as part of that correspondence.

That information may be used to respond to your inquiry, communicate with you, maintain appropriate business or correspondence records, address legal or security matters, or for another purpose reasonably connected with your communication.

Please do not send confidential, proprietary, personal or sensitive information unless it is reasonably necessary for your inquiry.

Sending information through the Contact page or another communication channel does not create an engineer-client, consultant-client or other professional relationship.

Links to email providers, scheduling services, social networks and other external websites or services may take you outside this Site.

Those services operate independently and may collect, use, retain or disclose information according to their own privacy policies and terms.

This Privacy Notice does not control the privacy practices of third parties.

Where a hosting, infrastructure or technical service provider processes information on behalf of the Site, information may be processed or stored in jurisdictions outside your province or outside Canada and may therefore be subject to the laws applicable in those jurisdictions.

BuiltSmart project information stored in session storage or local browser storage remains under the control of your browser and device rather than Mike Hassaballa.

You control when locally saved BuiltSmart projects and exported project files are deleted.

Personal information actually received through correspondence is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was received, legitimate record-keeping requirements, resolution of inquiries or disputes, and applicable legal obligations.

Technical request information processed or retained by hosting, security or infrastructure providers may be retained according to operational, security and provider retention requirements.

Information that is no longer reasonably required will be deleted, anonymized or otherwise disposed of where appropriate and reasonably practicable.

Reasonable administrative and technical measures are used or relied upon to protect personal information under Mike Hassaballa's control against unauthorized access, use, disclosure, alteration or loss, having regard to the sensitivity and circumstances of the information.

No Internet transmission, device, browser-storage system or electronic storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

You are responsible for protecting access to your own device, browser profile and exported BuiltSmart project files.

You can use BuiltSmart without saving a project permanently to your device.

You can choose whether to use the device-save function and can delete a device-saved project through BuiltSmart or your browser.

You can clear Site data and browser storage using your browser controls.

You can choose whether to import, export, retain or share a BuiltSmart project file.

You may choose whether to contact Mike Hassaballa or use a linked third-party service.

You may contact Mike Hassaballa to ask whether personal information about you is held under his control and, where applicable, request access to or correction of that information.

Certain legal exceptions may apply to access, correction, retention or deletion requests.

These rights do not apply in the same way to BuiltSmart project information that remains exclusively on your own device because Mike Hassaballa does not possess or control that information.

Mike Hassaballa is responsible for privacy questions concerning personal information under his control in connection with this Site.

Questions, access or correction requests, or concerns about the privacy practices described in this Notice can be submitted using the Contact page.

Where applicable, individuals may also have the right to raise privacy concerns with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or another competent privacy regulator.

This Privacy Notice may be updated when the Site or BuiltSmart changes.

In particular, the Notice will be reviewed before introducing features such as user accounts, server-side project storage or synchronization, analytics, advertising technologies, online payments, mailing lists or other materially different collection, use or disclosure of personal information.

Material changes will be reflected by changing the effective date displayed above.
